Coming of age: A look at the growth of cycling in Tahoe and Truckee
The inaugural High Sierra Challenge, held on Aug. 18, 1985, was one of the first major mountain bike races to be hosted in the basin. U.S. Bicycling Hall of Famer Joe Murray won the 21-mile race held near Tahoe City in two hours and 19 minutes.
