    what is this, your math homework?

  2. max says:

    $214.28 * 5.5% = $11.7854

  3. kristenc says:

    1178.54

  4. Sarah L says:

    sales x 0.055 = 214.28$

    sales = 214.28/0.055

    sales = 3896$

    His sales were 3896 $ for the month of September!

    214.28/.055=3896 in sales? i think thats how you would do it
    cuz .055 or 5.5% times 3896 = 214.28

    Don't want to get out the calculator but here's what you need to punch in since commission is 5.5% (.055 as a decimal) and his commssion is this portion of a total sales amount (X)

    .055 (X) = 214.28

    214.28/.055 = X

    Please only use the answers which use this equation the others answers (1178 etc) are wrong

    to figure out this problem i mutiplied 5.5 times 214.28 and that gave me 1178.54 then you move then decimal over 1 because its 5.5 move the decimal over once to the left EQUALS 117.854

  8. peter v says:

    In commission you multiply what you earn by a certain percentage so to see what he made before commission you would divide.
    5.5%= .055
    .055 X 214.28= 3896
    to check if it's right multiply 3896 by 5.5% and get the answer
    $3896 X .055= 214.28

    Use tehans triangle

    Is
    ----------
    Of/ %

    214.28
    -------------
    /.055
    So 214.28 / .055=3896.00
